A great story climax has five attributes:

1. Surprise: Something unexpected happens.

2. Strong Emotions: Your audience feels for your character. Use it.

3. Justice: Your characters should get what they deserve.

4. Change: Your character should finally get it and grow.

5. Summary: Everything should make sense now. Close any open questions.

For your story you need a point of view. You can choose from several perspectives: The ego perspective, the objective perspective, the all-knowing storyteller. You can create a mix of them, but you shouldn't switch much between the points of view because it's confusing and doesn't help. The important thing is that the point of view supports your story.

To engage your audience, they need to identify with your character. To do this, use emotions. Right at the beginning of your story your character should be afraid, scared, hopeless, and then your character should make a decision. During your story use retrospects only when necessary. First try to see if you can make the point in the present of your story. If not, go back in time. Retrospects interrupt tense moments and the flow of the story.
